Host Hotel Information

This year's host hotel is the Hilton & Executive Tower. The special discounted room rates are available until August 27, 2013, or until the room block is sold out. The rates are $175 plus tax (about 13%) per night for Run of House rooms or $185 plus tax (about 13%) per night for Executive Tower rooms. To book your reservation, click here or contact the Hilton directly at 800.HILTONS or 503.226.1611 and mention the reservation is for the AAPA Conference.

As there are a limited number of sleeping rooms available in our block at the Hilton, it is highly recommended that you reserve your room well in advance of the August 27 deadline. If rooms sell out, you will not be able to reserve a room on property at the host hotel.

Registration


A detailed confirmation will automatically be emailed to you once your registration has been submitted. You may choose to pay by credit card when registering or pay by check from the invoice that is generated. Full payment is required at least two weeks prior to the conference. The Cancellation Policy will be enforced once your registration is submitted (with or without payment). If you have any questions, contact the Central Office at info@pathassist.org.

Be sure to take advantage of the discount available by booking your hotel reservation at the Hilton & Executive Tower. Those registering for the FULL conference may use one of the following hotel discount codes when completing their registration form.

$200 off registration for those who ARE NOT sharing a room with another registered conference attendee.

$100 off registration for those who ARE sharing a room with another registered conference attendee.

Registration Options

• Full Conference: Fee includes access to all 19 lectures, the exhibitor session, Sunday welcome party, Wednesday reception, daily breakfast and break, and PACE credits based on attendance requirements. Lunch and dinner for the week are not included. Workshops are not included. Register by July 31 for the best available rate!

• Daily Attendance: Fee includes access to lectures offered on the day(s) registered, breakfast and break, social events (if applicable), and PACE credits based on attendance requirements for the day(s) registered. Lunch, dinner, and workshops are not included.

• Afternoon Workshop Registration: Workshop attendance requires an additional fee which includes lunch. PACE credits are awarded based on attendance requirements and the length of the workshop(s) attended.

Continuing Education Credits

The AAPA is approved as a provider of continuing education programs in the clinical laboratory sciences by the ASCLS PACETM Program. To be eligible to receive continuing education credit, you must have passed the ASCP BOC exam prior to this conference AND you must have your name badge scanned upon entering EACH lecture/workshop. You must be scanned within the first 10 minutes of the start of the lecture to receive credit.


The maximum number of CME credits available at our 2013 conference is 28. Nineteen (19) of these are one hour lecture credits, included with the Full Conference registration option.

 

Registration Changes

An additional $50 fee will apply to ALL adjustments made to your conference registration after it has been received. This applies to daily registration changes and optional activity cancellations/transfers, unless otherwise noted in the activity description. As space permits, you may add workshops/events to your registration at no additional charge.

 

Cancellation Policy

Written notice to cancel must have been received via fax, mail, or email by August 15, 2013, to receive an 80% refund. No refunds will be given after August 15. If the AAPA cannot hold the conference due to acts of God, war, government regulations, disaster, strikes, civil disorder, or curtailment of transportation or other emergencies making it inadvisable, illegal, or impossible to provide the facilities or to hold the meeting, each prepaid registrant will receive a copy of conference handouts and any other materials that would have been distributed. Fixed conference expenses will be paid from the pre-registration funds. Remaining funds will be refunded to pre-registrants. AAPA is not responsible for any other costs incurred by pre-registrants in connection with the conference.

 

Attire & Weather

All activities are business casual (no shorts, t-shirts, or jeans). Evening attire is dressy casual (again no shorts, t-shirts, or jeans), except for sporting and outdoor optional activities.

Expect daytime temperatures in the 70s and evening temperatures in the 50s.

Transportation

The hotel is approximately 20 minutes from Portland International Airport (PDX). The hotel does not provide shuttle service. The cost for a taxi is approximately $35 from Portland International Airport. The Max Light Rail operates service to and from the airport and downtown. The cost is $2.35 and the trip lasts approximately 38 minutes.

The hotel's parking fee for valet parking is $37 overnight and $27 day time. See the Valet Parking Package available through the hotel for those registering in advance. There is a public parking garage across the street from the hotel. The maximum height is 6ft 8in, and parking rates vary from $1 for one hour, up to $10 for six hours. Overnight parking is $16.

The Blue Star Airport Shuttle operates between 4:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. The shuttle picks up and drops off near the front of the hotel. The fare is $14 per person each way or $24 round-trip.
