Yoga with Elizabeth Feygina

This open level Vinyasa (flow) yoga series is geared for PAs, with lots of anatomy terms and how to alleviate any pathological state that a PA may experience from work (i.e. Neck/shoulder tension, lower back pain, wrist pain, arthritis, stenosis, stress...etc.).

This is an open level class meant to teach skills that can be done at home. There will be gentle yoga modifications for anyone with injuries or those who have never tried yoga before.

Class day/time:
6am Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday
7am Thursday morning
4pm Tuesday and Thursday
Classes range from 45 min-1 hour

About Fort Lauderdale

 

Weather to expect

Although it's the hottest time of the year, summer in Fort Lauderdale is also one of the wettest seasons thanks to the arrival of tropical storms and hurricanes. In September, ocean temperatures are around 85 degrees Fahrenheit and you can expect rain on up to 19 days of the month.

Expect the high temperature to be in the mid to upper 80s °F with lows in the mid 70s °F.

Travel, Parking, and Transportation

Transportation to/from Airport

The Westin Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort is located 6.2 miles from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and 32 miles from Miami International Airport.

The hotel does not offer shuttle service from either airport.

Parking

The AAPA has made arrangements with the hotel for a discounted valet parking rate of $25/daily.

Registration Fine Print

A detailed confirmation will automatically be emailed to you once your registration has been submitted. You may choose to pay by credit card when registering or pay by check from the invoice that is generated. Full payment is required by July 29. The Cancellation Policy will be enforced once your registration is submitted (with or without payment). If you have any questions, contact the Central Office at info@pathassist.org.

Important Note: If you register for the conference under the "shared or individual room" rates but are unable to secure hotel reservations at the Westin Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort, you will be invoiced for the conference registration difference. We ask that if you have any trouble making hotel reservations, please contact the AAPA office before making reservations

Registration Options

  • Full Conference: Fee includes access to breakfast, coffee breaks, all lectures, discussion groups, poster sessions, exhibitor session, and credits awarded based on attendance requirements. Lunch and dinner for the week are not included. Registrants have the ability to earn up to 23 PACE credits by attending 17 lectures and three poster sessions! Register by July 29 for the best available rate!
    • Full conference (individual room) = individual room booked at the hotel. Not sharing with another registered conference attendee.
    • Full conference (shared room) = room booked at the hotel shared by one or more registered conference attendees.
  • Daily Attendance: Fee includes access to lectures offered on the day(s) registered, breakfast and coffee break, social events (if applicable), and PACE credits based on attendance requirements for the day(s) registered. Lunch and dinner are not included.

Registration Changes

An additional $50 fee will apply to ALL adjustments made to your conference registration after it has been received. This applies to daily registration changes and optional activity cancellations/transfers, unless otherwise noted in the activity description. As space permits, you may add events to your registration at no additional charge.

Cancellation Policy

Written notice to cancel must be received via fax, mail, or email by August 13, 2020, to receive an 80% refund. Cancellations due to active military duty will be fully refunded. No refunds will be given after August 13. For cancellations due to illness after August 13, 2020, a refund of 80% will be given with the submission of a physician's note. If the AAPA cannot hold the conference due to acts of God, war, government regulations, disaster, strikes, civil disorder, or curtailment of transportation or other emergencies making it inadvisable, illegal, or impossible to provide the facilities or to hold the meeting, each prepaid registrant will receive a copy of conference handouts and any other materials that would have been distributed. Fixed conference expenses will be paid from the pre-registration funds. Remaining funds will be refunded to pre-registrants. AAPA is not responsible for any other costs incurred by pre-registrants in connection with the conference.

Tips for Employer Approval to Attend

The AAPA understands that budgets can be tight, staffing can be short and time can be limited. Since the AAPA is the first choice for pathologists' assistant-specific education, the AAPA wants all members to attend.

Here are tips to help get employer approval to attend an AAPA Event:
  • Be armed with knowledge! Demonstrate the valuable information presented at the conference and how it will help you stay current in the field of pathology. Provide your employer with a schedule of the lectures (and workshops if applicable) that you plan to attend, and offer to present what you’ve learned to your coworkers upon your return.
  • Come back with information! Plan to visit the exhibit hall booths/sponsors (and the product demonstrations if applicable) to get information on products or services that your lab needs.
  • Provide information! Submit an estimate of travel expenses, including how you plan to keep these costs down (discounted shuttle vs cab, breakfast included in registration rate, etc.).
  • Be helpful! Offer suggestions for providing coverage while you are at the conference.
  • Use the AAPA! Apply for a travel grant. The AAPA has travel grants available to help cover the cost. Stay up-to-date with the latest opportunities and submission deadlines by keeping your contact information current and/or following us on social media.
  • Shop for deals! Get the best discounted rates available for our events by registering early and booking your room early at the host hotel property.
Each year, the AAPA's Continuing Education Events provide members with the perfect venue to obtain the PACE credits necessary to maintain ASCP BOC certification. The Annual Conference and Spring Meeting are the best outlets for pathologists' assistants to address the need for continuing education. We have put together a customizable sample letter for you to download outlining the value of AAPA Events to both you and your company. You can customize the letter to your unique situation, focusing on the issues and opportunities that are most important to you.
