Moderator: Emily Loter, Speaker Recruitment Subcommittee Chair
Summary: The issue of PA licensure has been discussed for many years, but the recent passing of a licensure bill in New York has brought it to the forefront. Our next Town Hall will explore licensure of PAs and what it could mean for our profession. Last month we sent out a survey to our members to find out their opinion on licensure and what questions they may have about the topic. The results of the survey were mixed, so these will be presented and discussed.
We will also discuss what licensure is and how it is different from certification. We will examine how the licensure process occurs, using what happened in New York as an example. Though licensure in each state could be very different, there are lessons to be learned from New York. Additionally, we will discuss the official stance of the AAPA on licensure, and what we intend to do—and not do—in the future to influence the process.
Please take this opportunity to ask questions directly to the BOT on this topic! We invite you to pre-submit questions; you will also have the opportunity to ask questions during the live Town Hall meeting. ***Pre-submit your questions to firstname.lastname@example.org by the deadline of Tuesday, May 29.***
After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing detailed steps on how to join the webinar on June 3.
