Dear AAPA Members,

As you may recall in 2016, the AAPA partnered with the ASCP to allow our credits to transfer from our professional development database to the Board of Certification (BOC) Credential Maintenance Program (CMP) system.  Within the last year, the ASCP BOC CMP changed their import application and began requiring new and different data fields needed to import the credits into their system.  As a result, some of you may have noticed or experienced a significant delay or missing credit data.  Let me explain the situation and our resolution.

The new ASCP system, without warning, began requiring an identical matching of a member’s full name along with their ASCP ID number (before it was just the 8-digit ASCP Customer ID number).  This caused a number of records to “error out” and no data was transferred as a result.  In addition, the ASCP error report we receive after each import was not showing all, or at times any, of the members with errors, and their system was skipping some of the data all together.

The AAPA IT support staff has been in continuous communication with the ASCP IT team over the last 10 months.  First to reduce the data field requirements causing the significant error rate, second to respond to weekly errors on their side causing credits not to transfer, and third to act on credit transfer inquiries received by our members.  After investigation, the ASCP believes they have now resolved the issues on their end.

The AAPA IT staff has very recently completed a resubmit of all data since the transition, and we believe every member who has earned AAPA credits has been successfully imported into the ASCP system.  For your information, the AAPA sends credit data on a weekly basis.  It is sent every Tuesday and, per our agreement with the ASCP, should be imported and visible in your ASCP transcript by Friday of the same week.  Remember, you must sign in to your ASCP account and allocate any credits you earn, no matter where they are from.  So be sure to check the “unallocated” section in your ASCP CMP record.

I want to assure every member that no data was or has ever been lost.  The AAPA keeps an independent record of all our members' earned AAPA credits, so if something is missing from ASCP, it can be proven and provided for recertification.  The IT support team is monitoring the situation and we believe everything is back on track.  However, if you are experiencing a long delay in your credits transferring or are not seeing your AAPA credits on the ASCP side, please contact us at info@pathassist.org, via social media, or at 800-532-AAPA (2272).
